What happened
The popular situation comedy Friends might be adapted for film, according to Britain's Daily Mail. Sources said production could begin within the next 18 months, including all the original cast members: Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, and David Schwimmer. Aniston reportedly dragged her heels, but now is on board. (Daily Mail)

What the commentators said
"We can take this with a grain of salt right now," said Monika Bartyzel on the movie blog Cinematical. The only proof of a possible Friends movie is a Daily Mail story citing unnamed sources. Yet, "whether it's true or not, it makes sense," based on the success of the Sex and the City film.

"The truth is, they all need the money because, after Friends ended, their careers went in the dumper," said celebrity gossip site GlossLip. "Jennifer has had the most movie success, and that’s been iffy at best. They need this movie like Joey needs turkey. Like Monica needs to clean."

Money isn't the issue, said Jarett Wieselman on the New York Post's Popwrap blog. "Each of them made so much bank during the series' ten-year run that they could use $100 bills to light stogies." Rumors of a Friends movie keep surfacing, but if it actually happens this time, it will be because of the cast's waffling careers, not their money woes.
