Travel: Hotel of the week: The Peninsula

After checking into Tokyo

The Peninsula
Tokyo

After checking into Tokyo’s five-star Peninsula, said David Pilling in the Financial Times, “I temporarily lost all desire to step outside.” The hotel is only a short distance from the moat-surrounded Imperial Palace and the supertrendy Ginza shopping district. But the “Asian-Swedish” decor of the hotel is a sight in itself. My room included minimalist furnishings, a walk-in closet bigger than many Japanese hotel rooms, and a spa bath. Breakfast at the Hei Fung Terrace consisted of rice, pickles, smoked fish, and miso soup. Contact: Tokyo.peninsula.com
