Codeword
How to play codeword: In a codeword grid, the numbers 1 to 26 each represent a different letter of the alphabet. A few letters are provided by the puzzle setter, and players must then figure out which of the remaining numbers correspond to which letter.
Rules of codeword: There aren't a lot of rules to cracking a codeword; simply work through each of the blank spaces to identify patterns across the grid and work out which letters go where. Puzzle setters tend to avoid proper nouns as well as phrases or foreign words that aren't fully accepted in the English language, to avoid confusion.
Strategies for solving codewords: Puzzle players should look out for common word endings (such as "ing" or "ed") and instances of double letters. It can also be helpful to consider where the most commonly-used letters in the alphabet are likely to appear in a word. If you think that you have identified a letter correctly, double check how its addition might impact other words on the grid, as that can help to highlight a miscalculation.
