Boring but important
Kushner’s new task force
President Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, will lead a new White House “SWAT team” aimed at making the federal government run like a business, the Trump administration announced this week. The White House Office of American Innovation will be made up of business executives and consultants who, like Kushner, 36, have no previous government experience. The group will have sweeping authority to modernize and streamline government operations by applying “the best ideas” from the private sector, White House officials said. “I promised the American people I would produce results, and apply my ‘ahead of schedule, under budget’ mentality to the government,” Trump said. The role broadens Kushner’s portfolio, which also includes brokering Middle East peace.
