A political activist is facing a year in jail for laughing during Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ confirmation hearings. Desiree Fairooz, 61, burst into loud laughter when one senator testified that Sessions treated “all people equally under the law.” Pointing to Sessions’ anti-LGBT and anti-immigrant positions and “jokes” about the Ku Klux Klan, “I felt it was my responsibility as a citizen to dissent,” Fairooz said. She was convicted of “disorderly and disruptive conduct.”
Workers at a North Carolina fast-food restaurant sparked outrage by singing the rap song “F--- Tha Police” while cops ate. One of the officers described the incident on Facebook, facetiously thanking the employees of Smithfield’s Chicken ’N Bar-B-Q in Raleigh for their “class and professionalism.” The franchise owner said he would investigate.
