Charity of the week
The Amazon Conservation Team (amazon team.org) was founded on the principle that rain forest ecosystems and traditional cultures must be protected together in order for either to thrive. Since 1996, the group has worked to preserve indigenous lands in the Ama zon by partnering with local leaders, creating sustainable food systems, and increasing access to health care in remote communities. ACT has ethnographically mapped 36 million acres of rain forest across Brazil and Suriname to help indigenous groups preserve their unique customs, ancestral medicinal practices, and sacred sites. ACT has_also trained more than 150 indigenous people _to become Amazon park rangers and lead school groups to ecologically and culturally significant sites.
