Hotel of the week
The Gulf of Finland
“If the feminist struggle is a war, then this Finnish island is the boot camp of its elite forces,” said Catherine Nixey in the Financial Times. A luxury retreat for women only, SuperShe accepts just eight guests a week but promises a regimen of wild swims, saunas, yoga, lectures, and group dinners that will help each visitor live a more empowered life. The resort’s founder, who formerly ran a Seattle consulting firm, insists on an all-female staff, and her guests must apply to be selected. Unfortunately, with 8,000 applications on file already, “the odds of acceptance make Ivy League entry seem breezy.”
