A New Jersey high school has banned students from renting limousines for the prom, so poorer students don’t feel left out. The goal is to provide “a level playing field” and let all students “enjoy a shared ‘prom experience’ despite socioeconomic status,” said Hugh Beattie, superintendent of Lakeland Regional High School. Senior Britney Tomasella said the limo ban was unfair. “All our siblings have done it,” she said.
A Tennessee woman says her homeowner’s association is fining her $100 because the heat from the engine of her parked car melted the snow underneath it in an “obscene” shape. In an email, the HOA attached a photo of a vaguely phallic patch of bare pavement and stated that her Honda had violated a ban on “displaying offensive images or slogans.”
