Wine: Supermarket finds
Marietta Cellars Old Vine Red Lot Number 67 ($15). Old Vine Red is a zinfandel blend that “tastes a little of red fruits, a little of licorice,” and yet is “blessedly dry,” not sweet.
2016 Ridge Sonoma County Three Valleys ($30). Another zinfandel blend, this is “a little riper, with flavors of spicy red fruit, a touch of licorice, and maybe a little oak.”
2016 Montinore Estate Willamette Valley Pinot Noir ($19). This bright pinot noir is “taut and pure,” with flavors of red fruit and “an underlying earthy, forest-brush quality.” It’s “an awfully good value.” ■
