For choosing a different paint color
ColorSnap lets you see a room’s walls in any of Sherwin-Williams’ 1,500 paint hues. If you find a color that you like elsewhere—maybe on your throw pillows—ColorSnap can help you find the matching paint.
ColorSmart does more or less the same thing, but with Behr’s 2,500 paints. It can also find paints to match your favorite colors and suggest designer-coordinated color combinations. ColorSmart can’t show you what a paint looks like on your wall—just a wall—but that’s still better than holding up color swatches.
Paint My Place works with 32 top paint brands, including Dulux, Benjamin Moore, and Farrow & Ball. The free version includes 25 popular colors, but the $3 upgrade unlocks 50,000 colors and hundreds of suggested color schemes. One caveat: You have to “paint” your walls using your fingertip on the touchscreen, which can be tricky.
