It must be true…
I read it in the tabloids
A California skydiver was reunited with his $15,000 prosthetic leg after losing it in midair during a jump. Dion Callaway searched fruitlessly for the wayward limb, but workers at a lumber yard found the prosthetic and authorities eventually traced it back to Callaway. The leg is “in perfect shape—survived 10,000 feet,” said Callaway, who lost his real leg as the result of a previous jump. The returned prosthetic, he quipped, was the second leg he had lost while skydiving.
The mystery of why ducks and fish were disappearing from a British lake was solved when local residents found two dead piranhas. The flesh-eating, razor-toothed fish, which are indigenous to the Amazon, apparently were released into the lake by someone who had kept them in a tank. “We couldn’t believe that we’d found a piranha fish,” said Lisa Holmes, 37. “It’s not the kind of thing you expect to find in Doncaster.”
An Austrian fugitive turned himself in after 10 years on the lam in Spain’s Canary Islands because he’d gotten fed up with living in a tropical paradise. Police confirmed the ex-jailbird, 64, had escaped from prison and settled on the island of Tenerife. He presented himself to cops at Salzburg’s train station carrying two suitcases. He said he had returned, police said, because “Tenerife is not as nice as it used to be and he had lived there long enough.” He was taken to a Salzburg jail. ■
