For kids interested in science
Professor Astro Cat’s Solar System offers a whimsical way for children to learn about the solar system. Based on a book series about a jetpack-propelled cat, the colorful $4 app requires some reading. But its “entertaining storyline” and “fascinating facts” make the app fun even for an adult called upon to be the reader.
Toca Nature is similar to Minecraft, except that the open-ended, $4 building game lets kids create and shape a landscape while observing how the flora and fauna change as the environment changes.
The Human Body “focuses less on teaching kids specific anatomical lessons and more on sparking wonder toward the body.” Kids can jump between organs and organ systems to see how food is broken down, or watch flashing nerve signals race to the brain. The $4 app also emits sound effects that are “as compelling as the animations.”
