Wine: Upscale albariño
2017 Alberto Nanclares ($34). This was the wine that prompted my new interest in albariños. “Fresh, briny, and textured,” it remains one of my favorite new discoveries.
2017 Bodegas La Caña ($20). A value selection “highly deserving of your attention,” this wine also hails from Rías Baixas, in Galicia. It’s “richly textured and deep, with lingering lime and mineral flavors.”
2018 Benito Santos Igrexario de Saiar Albariño ($18). “Tense and fresh,” with notes of saline and citrus, this is an even better value.
