Hotel of the week
A top hotel in Atlanta’s poshest neighborhood has reopened, and “nearly everything about it has changed,” said Patti Nickell in the Chicago Tribune. A former Ritz-Carlton, the 507-room Whitley has brightened up considerably since becoming a Marriott Luxury Collection hotel. The rooftop saltwater pool remains, as do the hotel’s high service standards, but the dark wood and heavy drapes have given way to “a more pared-down sophisticated design.” More-whimsical art adorns the walls, while the lobby now resembles a Southern porch, complete with rocking chairs.
