A Puerto Rican man was asked by CVS employees to show his “immigration papers” before buying cold medicine. José Guzmán Payano, a student at Indiana’s Purdue University, says he repeatedly explained to the pharmacy chain’s staff that Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, but they rejected both his Puerto Rican driver’s license and his passport as valid forms of ID. A CVS spokeswoman apologized.
A New York state high school football coach was suspended for winning a game by too many points. Plainedge High School defeated South Shore High 61-13, a violation of a “lopsided scores policy.” Suspended coach Rob Shaver pointed out that South Shore was previously undefeated, and that opposing coach Phil Onesto said he had “no issue with how the game went.”
