lawyer to ex-lawyer
July 27, 2018

Michael Cohen is officially out of President Trump's lawyer squad, and current club leader Rudy Giuliani wants to make that very clear.

On last night's episode of Cuomo Prime Time, Giuliani turned on Cohen, the president's former longtime personal lawyer. "He's lied all his life," Giuliani told CNN's Chris Cuomo of Cohen. "There is no doubt in my mind that he's just not credible."

Giuliani's accusation came after the Tuesday release of a tape in which Cohen and the president discussed buying the rights to a former Playboy model's story of an alleged affair between her and Trump. Cohen secretly recorded the conversation, and his lawyer Lanny Davis released it after it became clear the FBI had seized the same recording in an April raid. Davis also made it very clear that Cohen had rescinded his allegiance to Trump.

That brought Giuliani to the airwaves last night, trying to discredit any other hypothetical secrets Cohen might share. Yet on May 6, when Cohen was still a card-carrying member of Trump's inner circle, Giuliani had a very different message. "[Cohen] doesn't have any incriminating information about the president or himself," Giuliani told ABC News less than three months ago. "The man is an honest, honorable lawyer."
