The viral children's song and video clearly doesn't know when to stop, and has now inspired a live tour headed to 100 locations across the U.S. and Canada. While showrunners haven't revealed those locations just yet, rest assured that this "brand new, fully immersive concert experience ... will delight fans of all ages," tour producer Round Room Live writes on its website.
Baby Shark got its start as a camp song before Pinkfong, a South Korean children's content group, rehashed into a colorful, animated, and downright annoying hit YouTube video. Netflix then turned it into a series, and so did Nickelodeon. Now, that two-minute wonder is getting a 10-person cast and entire storyline, Round Room's co-president Stephen Shaw tells Billboard. In the show, Baby Shark joins Pinkfong's eponymously named fox mascot for an undersea, song-filled adventure.
Seeing as the Baby Shark song consists of 17 words and one syllable repeated over and over, it took some finagling to turn it into an entire live extravaganza, Shaw tells Billboard. "Thankfully Pinkfong has a large catalog of songs that we have access to, with more than 400 titles," he said, though he clearly wasn't directing that "thankfully" at parents and the general public who've had to listen to them.
Anyhow, the first round of Baby Shark Live! tour dates will be announced July 9, and you can sign up for updates at babysharklive.com. Do do do do do it if you dare. Kathryn Krawczyk
