trouble in the #resistance
November 28, 2018

Stormy Daniels never wanted to sue President Trump for defamation. Michael Avenatti did it "without my wishes," Daniels tells The Daily Beast.

Daniels, the porn star who says she had an affair with Trump in 2006, and Avenatti, her lawyer, rose to #Resistance stardom after launching a lawsuit against the president. But things seemed to get rocky after a judge dismissed Daniels' defamation suit last month, leaving her responsible for Trump's legal fees. Avenatti apparently launched a launched a fundraising effort to pay the costs, sparking a long response from Daniels to The Daily Beast, which you can read below.

Daniels also said she was "tremendously grateful" for Avenatti's representation, but felt she had to "set the record straight" so supporters "know their money is being spent responsibly." Avenatti, meanwhile, explained himself in a follow-up statement to The Daily Beast.

If Daniels' allegations are true, experts say Avenatti could be sued for malpractice. Read more of Daniels' statement at The Daily Beast. Kathryn Krawczyk
