Kabul
A car bomb killed six people, including three Americans, this week at the Kabul office of an American security company. The company, DynCorp Inc., provides bodyguards for President Hamid Karzai and trains Afghan police. Members of the Taliban, the former Islamic government, claimed responsibility for the bombing and said more would follow before the October elections. Mullah Abdul Hakim Latifi, a Taliban spokesman, said his group did not want to kill Afghans. “We appeal to civilians to stay away from the elections and places where the Americans and coalition are living and working,” he said. The U.S. Embassy advised Americans in Afghanistan to avoid markets, restaurants, government offices, and military facilities.
