Boston
A federal judge in Boston this week sentenced Richard Reid to life in prison for trying to blow up a jetliner with a bomb hidden in his sneakers. Reid, 29, shouted at Judge William Young before being dragged out of court in handcuffs. “You will be judged by Allah,” he said. “Your flag will come down and so will your country.” Reid, a British citizen, admitted at trial that he tried to blow up a crowded Paris-to-Miami flight just over a year ago. He declared himself to be an ally of Osama bin Laden in a war against the U.S. “You’re not a soldier in any war,” Judge Young replied. “You’re a terrorist.”
