Bernie Sanders demanded a major reform of Congress on the stage of the NBC Democratic debate on Sunday, slamming the system by saying that, "The real issue is that Congress is owned by big money." Sanders went on to say, "We have got to make Congress respond to the needs of the people, not big money."
Sanders' words immediately lit up social media:
Sanders has used similar language to put himself explicitly at odds with Clinton. "In terms of bringing young people and working class people into the political process, an objective assessment will suggest that our campaign has a lot more momentum and a lot more energy than Secretary Clinton’s campaign," Sanders has said.
