Mitt Romney: 'My favorite meat is hot dog'
Many political candidates make an effort to appear relatable to voters, but they don't often do so by talking about the wonder of hot dogs.
Utah Senate candidate Mitt Romney, meanwhile, has professed the nature of his prosaic palate, according to a Washington Examiner report published this week.
"My favorite meat is hot dog, by the way. That is my favorite meat," he reportedly told supporters at a recent campaign event. "My second favorite meat is hamburger. And, everyone says, oh, don't you prefer steak? It's like, I know steaks are great, but I like hot dog best, and I like hamburger next best."
The article contrasted Romney's "brilliant" analytical abilities with his everyman tastes. Despite Romney's multi-decade political career and immense personal wealth, Romney is painting himself as a humble candidate who will work to "drain the swamp" and stand up to President Trump's more outrageous instincts. He's no Washington sophisticate, he tells voters, just a simple man who loves a good frankfurter.
