The Ambrose
Santa Monica, Calif.
The 77-room Ambrose is a “limited services” hotel operating on the European model, said Valli Herman in the Los Angeles Times. Guests park their own cars, tote their own bags, and serve themselves breakfast. Bed linens are laundered every third day. “Compact and smartly laid out,” this eco-boutique hotel also offers free rides in “a biodiesel-fueled London taxi.” Rooms are furnished in the same Craftsman style as the hotel’s exterior. The 24-hour room service, though, “likely will appeal only to vegetarians.”
