For what may be the first time in Donald Trump's surprisingly successful campaign for president, his popularity has slipped. A national poll released by Rasmussen Reports on Tuesday found that Trump slipped 9 points from the same poll conducted in July. Now, the real estate mogul is only supported by 17 percent of GOP voters. This poll's results differ drastically from polls released just last week that showed Trump leading the field by a 2-to-1 advantage.

Fellow GOP candidates Carly Fiorina and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio both saw their numbers soar, while Jeb Bush's numbers remained about the same. The poll of GOP voters was conducted between August 9 and 10, and has a margin of error of 4 points.
