Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras submitted his resignation to Greece's president on Thursday afternoon, Reuters reports. Tsipras was elected to office in January, but has since "effectively lost his parliamentary majority" after he lost support of hardliners in his Syriza party, who disapproved of the bailout deal Tsipras struck with international leaders to help bring relief during Greece's financial crisis. Greece will hold early elections on September 20 to determine his successor.
