Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon (D) ordered the National Guard to withdraw from Ferguson on Thursday.

Nixon had called in the National Guard on Monday after police clashed for days with protesters demonstrating against the killing of Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager, by a white police officer.

Nixon said that order in Ferguson is "largely restored," and the Missouri National Guard is "no longer needed" in the city, The New York Times reports. On Wednesday night, there were "no clashes between the police and protesters," and only 60 protesters were in the Ferguson streets at any given time, the Times notes. However, two protesters did show up in support of Darren Wilson, who killed Brown, on Wednesday night.
