Jeb Bush is your new frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination
That's according to a new CNN poll, released Sunday, which put the former Florida governor on top of a hypothetical 2016 GOP field at 23 percent. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) came in second with 13 percent, followed by a raft of potential candidates statistically tied for third. Notably though, the survey did not include Mitt Romney, who has led several recent polls and continues, despite insisting that he won't run again, to draw interest from possible backers and donors.
That said, it's still too early in the election cycle for polls to hold much predictive value, and Bush likely received a boost by announcing recently he was considering a 2016 run. For reference, Rudy Giuliani garnered around one-third of the vote in horse race polls at this point in the '08 election cycle.
