British actresses and childhood friends Emily Mortimer and Dolly Wells star in this sharp satire, which begins when down-on-her-luck Doll moves to Los Angeles to become successful Em’s personal assistant. Resentments bubble up when Em gets too picky about her lattes. But Doll soon puts Em on her heels when she becomes the toast of Em’s Hollywood sets. It’s all a bit Extras and a bit Girls, but the co-stars’ impossible-to-fake chemistry makes Doll & Em raw, funny, and unique. Wednesday, March 19, at 10 p.m., HBO
