Show of the week: Treme
Treme’s final season begins this week.
When this remarkable series debuted in 2010, the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina felt too fresh to already be getting a dramatization. But that hadn’t stopped co-creator David Simon from writing stories around the rebuilding and filming on location. In its three seasons, Treme has never quite reached the heights of Simon’s masterwork, The Wire. But Treme’s bare fictionalizations have taken TV storytelling to a powerful new place. Simon and team will try to wrap things up smartly in Treme’s final, five-episode season, which begins this week. Sunday, Dec. 1, at 9 p.m., HBO
