Tom Cruise; Will Smith; Rupert Murdoch

Tom Cruise has admitted Katie Holmes walked out on their marriage partly to protect their daughter, Suri, from the Church of Scientology. Cruise made the admission during a deposition for his $50 million lawsuit against gossip magazines In Touch and Life & Style. Under questioning by the magazines’ lawyer, Cruise reacted angrily to questions about Scientology, saying he found them “very offensive” and that there was “no need to protect my daughter from my religion.” But when asked if Holmes had left him in 2012 to keep Scientology away from Suri, he was forced to concede, “That was one of the assertions, yes.” He also acknowledged that Suri is not practicing Scientology. Cruise is suing the magazines for libel for stating that he had “abandoned” his daughter after separating from Holmes. In the leaked deposition, Cruise said he spent just 10 days with Suri in the first five months after the split.

Racy photos of Will Smith posing with a young co-star have resurrected claims that his marriage to Jada Pinkett Smith is in trouble. The pictures show Smith and actress Margot Robbie lifting their shirts for the camera and embracing.Robbie, 23, said on Twitter that she and Smith, 45, simply became friends while filming the new movie Focus. “It’s disappointing that goofing around on set could be taken so out of context,” she wrote. Pinkett Smith recently sparked speculation about the marriage, when she said Smith was “his own man” and “can do whatever” he wants.
