The daily gossip: Lady Gaga and Perez Hilton are having a big fight on Twitter, and more
5 top pieces of celebrity gossip — from Fergie's long overdue name change to Kim Kardashian's latest pop-baby adventure
1. Lady Gaga and Perez Hilton are having a big fight on Twitter
After more than a year with no new songs and relatively little publicity, Lady Gaga dropped her new single "Applause" last week — and wouldn't you know it, she's suddenly engaged in a high-profile Twitter fight! On Sunday, a fan tweeted that gossip columnist Perez Hilton was at Gaga's apartment building, prompting Gaga to reply that the news, if true, was "EXTREMELY EXTREMELY serious." Gaga went on to accuse Hilton of "TRYING TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN MY BUILDING TO STALK ME," prompting Hilton to reply that he was simply on a "day of house hunting with [his] baby boy and [his] mother," and that his proximity to Gaga was just a coincidence. Clearly, this is a dispute that can only be sorted out by a bunch of angry, all-caps public messages. [BuzzFeed]

2. Fergie's name is actually Fergie now
If you're proper enough to call Black-Eyed Peas member Fergie by her given name, Sarah Ferguson, you can officially stop: As of this weekend, the pop star's name is officially Fergie Duhamel. TMZ reports that Fergie decided to make the name official to "conform to the first name which she is commonly and professionally known as, and has been for many years." No word on whether she was also legally required to prove that she's Fergalicious. [TMZ]

How do you promote a show aimed at millennials? With a trailer using their favorite method of communication: Instagram. The first teaser for the third season of HBO's Girls has been released, offering a 30-second slideshow of the show's various characters on Instagram (and revealing that both Jemima Kike's Jessa and Andrew Rannells' Elijah will be returning). Keep an eye out for the second trailer — which will presumably arrive in the form of a Snapchat or a Tinder message — in the months to come. [Entertainment Weekly]

4. Sorry, you missed your chance to bid on a day spent swimming with Ryan Lochte
Have you been hoping to spend a magical day swimming with the dopey hunk of your dreams? Bad news: A swimming lesson with Ryan Lochte was auctioned off over the weekend, and you missed your chance to bid on it. At a charity auction for the Ellen Hermanson Foundation, Food Network chef Anne Burrell, who served as auctioneer for the evening, offered up the prize by exclaiming, "Even if you don't swim, buy it so you can stare at his package!" And just when we thought it was safe to go back in the water. [New York Post]

5. Here is your daily Kim Kardashian update
Since the birth of her daughter North West in June, Kim Kardashian has been unusually shy of the spotlight — but that hasn't stopped a number of gossip websites from obsessively scrutinizing each banal event in her life as if it was a lost bit of the Zapruder film. Today's example: An Instagram picture of Kardashian with Instagram founder Kevin Systrom, which she posted to her account on Saturday. "Chilling with the creator of Instagram @kevin," wrote Kardashian, in a blurry image that has inexplicably been "liked" by 202,000 people and counting. [USA Today]
