5 top pieces of celebrity gossip — from the short list to play Batman to Justin Bieber's latest altercation
1. Kim Kardashian is working on a North West-inspired clothing line
So far, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have been uncharacteristically private about their newborn daughter North West, but according to the Daily News, there's a good chance that's about to change. Lloyd Klein, a fashion designer and friend of Kardashian's, recently revealed that Kardashian plans to launch a clothing line for children. North West would reportedly serve as a "great poster child," which sounds a lot better than "uncomprehending paparazzi magnet." [Daily News]

Today in deja vu: Teenaged prankster god Justin Bieber was allegedly involved in an altercation outside a Southampton night club on Saturday. The Daily News reports that the Biebs had a "heated exchange" with a fellow male clubgoer after a brief conversation with the clubgoer's female friend. The report adds that Bieber "ripped off his shirt and went nuts," so it's possible he's just trying to get his name thrown into the mix to star in an Incredible Hulk reboot. [Daily News]

4. Even Karl Urban thinks Star Trek should be more original
If you saw this summer's Star Trek Into Darkness, you might have noticed that it was essentially a beat-for-beat remake of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. It certainly wasn't lost on star Karl Urban, who plays Dr. "Bones" McCoy in the rebooted franchise. "I really think that what we should do from here, in my personal opinion, is strive to be original," said Urban. "Strive to be something different and new." If only he could fall into a wormhole and give that speech last year. [HitFix]

5. The team behind The Lone Ranger says it's critics' fault no one saw their terrible movie
Faced with near-universal bad reviews, the creative team behind The Lone Ranger have switched up their marketing tactic as the film opens abroad: Don't defend the crappy movie you made; attack the critics who didn't like it! Critics wrote their Lone Ranger reviews "seven to eight months before" the film's release, complained star Johnny Depp, who has somehow launched a successful acting career without understanding the basic concept behind reviews.
