Show of the week: POV: Only the Young
This evocative documentary about three teenage friends has a gritty, dreamy beauty.
Not a lot happens in this evocative documentary about three teenage friends. Garrison and Kevin, two skate-punk teens from Santa Clarita, Calif., roam their desert town, hang out at an abandoned house, and are occasionally visited by love-triangle tensions in the form of a girl named Skye. But as languid as the action can be, filmmakers Jason Tippet and Elizabeth Mims compose images so carefully and edit scenes so deftly that their quiet portrait of aimless youth acquires a gritty, dreamy beauty.
