Good week, Bad week
Solidarity, Ugly Saudi men, Cravings and more
Good week for:
Solidarity, after the New York Yankees responded to the Boston bombing by playing the informal theme song of their archrival Boston Red Sox, “Sweet Caroline,” as thousands of fans sang along. The scoreboard said: “New York stands with Boston.”
Ugly Saudi men, after three Emirati men visiting Saudi Arabia were arrested and deported by the country’s religious police, who feared they were “too handsome” and that “female visitors could fall for them.”

Hippies, after a French researcher claimed that his study of 330 women over several years revealed that wearing bras actually weakens supporting tissues and makes breasts sag more. Bras, said the researcher, are “a false necessity.”
Bad week for:
Stereotypes, after toy-maker Mattel was widely mocked for its new Mexico Barbie Doll, which comes with a Chihuahua dog and a passport. “At least this way Mexican Barbie won’t get hounded by immigration,” said Latina blogger Deborah Cruz.
Watchdogs, after a Washington state couple came home to find an intruder feeding pudding to their dog, Buddy. When the intruder left, he called to Buddy, who followed him out the door.
