Gossip: Sarah Palin
Fox News will not renew Sarah Palin's $1 million-a-year contract.
Fox News finally ran out of patience with Sarah Palin this week, refusing to renew her $1 million-a-year contract with the news network. The former vice-presidential candidate was once the highest-paid contributor at Fox, but her relationship with network chairman Roger Ailes soured when she refused to take his advice to be less confrontational with her critics, says NYMag.com. Ailes’s anger at her grew when Palin announced in 2011 that she would not run for president during a radio interview—not on Fox News. “I paid her for two years to make this announcement on my network,” a furious Ailes reportedly said. When Fox offered a major pay cut to renew her contract, Palin quit, saying she had grown to like being “off the stage.’’
