Gossip: Kevin Clash
Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash resigned from Sesame Street amid new allegations that he had sexually abused underage boys.
Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash resigned from Sesame Street this week amid new allegations that he had sexually abused underage boys. “I am deeply sorry to be leaving and am looking forward to resolving these personal matters privately,” the 52-year-old performer said. Clash announced his departure as a $5 million lawsuit was being filed in federal court by Cecil Singleton, 24, who claims he was 15 when he met the then-32-year-old puppeteer on a gay chat line and was persuaded to meet for sex. It was the second such allegation made against Clash in over a week. The first accuser, an unidentified 23-year-old, recanted, but reported that he’d been pressured to drop the case.
