Show of the week: Nashville
Nashville has talent and music to spare.
From Oscar-winning Thelma & Louise screenwriter Callie Khouri, this new musical series is fast-paced, smart, and instantly engaging. Friday Night Lights alum Connie Britton shines as Rayna Jaymes, a country music superstar challenged by fading ticket sales, the industry’s new business model, and competition from a younger singer (Hayden Panettiere)—who’s half as talented but twice as ruthless. As Rayna’s tycoon father, Powers Boothe plays the show’s puppet-master role to the hilt. Nashville has talent and music to spare. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 10 p.m., ABC
