Show of the week: Major Crimes
The LAPD Major Crimes division carries on with its work in this sequel to The Closer.
Though The Closer has ended, the LAPD Major Crimes division carries on with its work in this sequel series, starring Mary McDonnell as Capt. Sharon Raydor. The focus has now shifted, though, from obtaining confessions to securing plea deals that will avoid costly trials. This week, Raydor faces a baptism by fire after the murder of a serial rapist. McDonnell’s cool presence differs from the edgy energy of Closer star Kyra Sedgwick, but the new show still delivers its forerunner’s engaging blend of police procedural, drama, and comedy.
