Show of the week: Hell on Wheels
As second season begins, ex–Confederate soldier Cullen Bohannon has turned from helping build the transcontinental railroad to the life of a fugitive.
As this brooding Western begins its second season, ex–Confederate soldier Cullen Bohannon (Anson Mount) has turned from helping build the transcontinental railroad to the life of a fugitive. Meanwhile, crime and chaos in the mobile community that accompanies the railroad’s construction have slowed the project’s westward progress to a crawl. Deliberately paced, and reminiscent of Sergio Leone’s artistic westerns, the show teems with colorful characters, period details, and strong performances, led by Mount, musician-actor Common, and Colm Meaney. Sunday, Aug. 12, at 9 p.m., AMC
