Gossip: Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise

Less than two weeks after she filed for divorce, Katie Holmes has reached a settlement with Tom Cruise.

Less than two weeks after she filed for divorce, Katie Holmes has reached a settlement with Tom Cruise that will give Holmes what she wants—protection for their daughter, Suri, from Scientology, said the New York Daily News. Around-the-clock negotiations between lawyers for both parties yielded an agreement to end the celebrity couple’s six-year marriage. Holmes had filed for sole custody of 6-year-old Suri, reportedly out of concern that Cruise was about to begin her indoctrination in the teachings of the Church of Scientology, to which he is passionately dedicated. Under the agreement, Holmes will have primary custody of Suri, while Cruise will be granted significant visitation rights. The agreement, sources say, curtails any exposure to Scientology while Suri is young, though it gives both parents the option of discussing religion with her as she gets older. Legal experts speculated that Cruise settled so quickly out of concern that Holmes could use her inside information to embarrass his embattled church.
