Twenty-five years after Inspector Morse made his TV debut, this clever prequel delves into the backstory of author Colin Dexter’s police detective.
Twenty-five years after Inspector Morse made his TV debut, this clever prequel delves into the backstory of author Colin Dexter’s cranky, opera-loving police detective. It’s 1965, and young Oxford dropout Endeavour Morse is a very junior detective helping probe the murder of a 15-year-old schoolgirl. Not only do we see Morse’s first partner, first pint of ale, and first ride in a Jaguar, we witness key events that shape his character for life. Shaun Evans plays young Morse; Roger Allam co-stars as his mentor. Sunday, July 1, at 9 p.m., PBS; check local listings
