Show of the week: Dallas
The saga of the oil-rich Ewing clan returns to prime time.
“Who shot J.R.?” More than 30 years after that question became a national obsession, the saga of the oil-rich Ewing clan returns to prime time, complete with original cast members Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, and J.R. himself, Larry Hagman. Though the spotlight has shifted to the next generation—J.R.’s son John Ross (Josh Henderson) and John’s cousin (Jesse Metcalfe)—its Cain-and-Abel narrative remains intact, along with the sly sparkle in Hagman’s eye. Deftly plotted, the new Dallas aims to deliver as much skullduggery and fun as the original. Wednesday, June 13, at 9 p.m., TNT
