Sherlock Holmes combs for clues via webcam while Dr. Watson spreads his fame on a blog in this witty update of Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic adventures. The first of three new mysteries transplants “A Scandal in Bohemia” to Buckingham Palace and reimagines Irene Adler, the woman Holmes admires above all others, as a dominatrix with a high-class clientele. Purists may howl, but in taking huge liberties with the Holmes canon, Sherlock hews true to its ingenuity and exuberance. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman star.
