In this drama about a splintering Brooklyn family, Janeane Garofalo “finds the tangy humor” in her role as a domineering Russian-Jewish mother, said The New York Times. Playwright Erika Sheffer could have developed the characters further, but she shows “an intuitive feeling” for tribal behavior as an uncle from Russia enlists his sister’s children in some highly dubious business deals.
