Grinnell's gender-neutral locker rooms
Grinnell College in Iowa is setting up “gender-neutral” locker rooms for athletes who feel constrained by traditional “male” and “female” gender labels. Grinnell already offers gender-neutral dorm floors and will not call students “he’’ or “she’’ if they prefer. “More students today don’t identify with the binary,” explains professor Astrid Henry, who teaches gender, women’s, and sexuality studies.
More trouble for the TSA
A New York woman has filed a complaint with the Transportation Security Administration, claiming that a baggage screener who found a vibrator in her luggage left a note that said, “Get your freak on girl.” Lawyer Jill Filipovic describes the incident as a “total invasion of privacy, wildly inappropriate, and clearly not okay.” The TSA is investigating.
