Show of the week: Masterpiece: Page Eight

Award-winning playwright David Hare wrote and directed this sophisticated contemporary spy drama. When members of a British intelligence office get their hands on an explosive document, the web of intrigue that results seems to reflect the tangled ties of love, loyalty, and honor that bind the principal characters both inside the service and beyond. In the central role, Bill Nighy is a marvel of understatement and dry wit, and the supporting cast, including Rachel Weisz, Michael Gambon, Judy Davis, and Ralph Fiennes, is superb.
