Show of the week: POV: Biblioburro, The Donkey Library
Luis Soriano and his two burros pass through some of Columbia's most dangerous backcountry to deliver donated books to impoverished children.
For more than 10 years, schoolteacher Luis Soriano and his two burros have braved some of the most dangerous backcountry of northern Colombia to deliver donated books to impoverished children. But Soriano brings more than books: By eliciting the children’s accounts of violent traumas, he seeks to help them change their destinies. As it follows him along his route, this documentary paints a portrait not only of an inspiring man but of a country struggling to change its tragic legacy of poverty, crime, and insurrection.
