Sex-crazed turtles raid the runways
Flights into and out of New York’s John F. Kennedy airport were delayed for several hours by a procession of sex-crazed turtles. More than 150 diamondback terrapins took over a runway as they crawled toward their traditional breeding grounds near New York’s Jamaica Bay, forcing airlines to suspend takeoffs and landings. “Running over turtles is not good for them,” said a JetBlue spokesman. “Nor is it good for our tires.”

Florence Henderson caught pubic lice from former New York City Mayor John Lindsay, the actress reveals in a new memoir. Now 77, the former Brady Bunch star says that back in the free-loving 1960s she had a one-night stand with the handsome and aristocratic Lindsay, though both were married. She woke the next morning to an unpleasant surprise. “Guess I learned the hard way that crabs do not discriminate,” she writes, “but cross over all socioeconomic strata.” Lindsay, she says, sent her a bunch of flowers by way of apology.
Toddler survives 10-story fall
A Chinese toddler survived a 10-story fall from an apartment building when a passerby raced over and caught her. Wu Juping, 31, says she reacted on instinct when she saw Zhang Fangyu, 2, dangling from the apartment’s balcony. She kicked off her high-heel shoes and ran to where the girl was falling. “I thought to myself, ‘I should stretch my arms to her. I must get her,’” Wu said. The impact knocked Wu out and broke her left arm, while Zhang suffered some internal injuries; both are expected to recover fully.
