Actor Mel Gibson was planning to plead “no contest” this week to a misdemeanor charge of battery on former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, in return for a promise he’d serve no jail time, said TMZ.com. The charge stems from a 2010 argument between Gibson and Grigorieva in which, she says, he physically attacked her as she held their infant daughter. Gibson’s lawyer said the plea deal was in “the best interests of his young daughter Lucia.’’
