Former NFL linebacker Junior Seau escaped serious injury this week when he drove his car off a cliff just hours after posting bail on a domestic-violence charge, said the New York Daily News. Police in Oceanside, Calif., arrested Seau, 41, and charged him with assault after his 25-year-old live-in girlfriend claimed that he’d struck her during an argument. Within hours, police in nearby Carlsbad discovered Seau’s badly damaged SUV at the bottom of a ravine with a bruised Seau still inside. Seau told police he’d fallen asleep at the wheel.
